Martha's Table

Martha's Table is a ministry of hospitality that provides meals on a short-term basis to those members of the parish who have had an illness, hospitalization, death in the family, or new baby.  Requests should be made through the clergy.  Parishioners are encouraged to volunteer to prepare meals on a rotating schedule.

Altar Flower Ministry

Each week volunteer parishioners deliver altar flowers to other members of the parish to commemorate special occasions or to cheer them in their need.  This is an opportunity to participate in a one-on-one ministry, which otherwise may not be possible.  Flower arranging and deliveries are made after the 11 a.m. service.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

A new ministry at CHS where we reach out to others in need through prayer; offering warmth and comfort through the production of knitted prayer shawls.  Members of the ministry meet on Monday afternnons, but  the ministry can take place in the quiet of your own home or while waiting for a plane at the airport.  Completed shawls may be requested by anyone in the parish  for someone in need of comfort.

Eucharistic Visitors

Eucharistic Visitors assist the clergy in the distribution of home communion to members of the parish who are hospitalized or homebound.  Members of this group of lay ministers are trained at CHS and licensed by the Diocese of Chicago.

Intercessory Prayer

Members of this group participate in the ministry of the church by committing to the practice of daily prayer on behalf of others.  The group gathers once monthly to update the list of those prayed for, and to pray together in the context of a simple Eucharist.  Meeting location rotates among members' homes.  No experience neededjust a willingness to pray for others.

Winchester House

A Eucharistic visitor from CHS conducts a communion service on the second Sunday of each month at this nursing home in Libertyville.

Westmoreland

A member of the clergy conducts a communion service on the second Sunday of each month at this facility affiliated with Lake Forest Hospital.  A member of CHS provides music and an Altar Guild member is present for each service.
