The Curriculum
confirmGirls.jpg
This is more than a curriculum - it's a system. Along with basic Old and New Testament overviews, materials are available on the Ten Commandments, Lord’s Prayer, Apostle’s Creed, Sacraments, and Church History.  Each month is planned around a three-legged stool of learning, service and fellowship. Each month normally includes two Learning Events, one Fellowship or Servant Event, plus a day off for the students.  Additionally, we will incorporate four liturgy events, including an ecumenical/interfaith field trip in the spring.  Students will examine the ways that our worship shapes us as communities of faith.

The Small Group

A small group is made up of two trained adult mentors for a group of 8-12 students in either 7th or 8th grade. Our mentors assist the students by helping them process lessons and translate their service and fellowship efforts into a nuanced understanding of becoming an adult Christian. They concentrate more on modeling the love of God than on talking about it. They focus on filling in the blanks in lives more than filling in the blanks in workbooks.

Learning Session Sundays

On these Sundays, students should attend the 9 a.m. worship service with their families, prior to class.  Class begins immediately after the 9 a.m. service.  Classes are upstairs in the Ark and Dove Rooms.  Dismissal for Learning Session Sundays is 11 a.m.

Outreach/Fellowship Sundays

Certain weeks throughout the year are designated as Outreach and Fellowship Sundays.  On these Sundays, mentors will plan and arrange activities for their individual groups based on our rotation plan.  Mentors will notify students and parents of plans for that week via email.
