Our confirmation program meets Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. in the Ark and Dove classroom on the 2nd floor.  7th and 8th graders are welcomed into a two year program and integrated into small groups with mentors.  Year A we study the Book of Common Prayer and Year B we study the Bible.  Our lessons are interactive, we play games, watch video clips, and create a sacred space where we can practice liturgy and explore our spirituality.  Mentors play a vital role in facilitating small groups in our confirmation class and building important relationships.  We average 70-80 students total and our mentors and
staff total 16-18.   
 
We kick off our year with a fun Fall Retreat where all confirmands are invited to deepen their relationships with each other and with God around camp fires, with songs, games, crafts and late night conversations.  8th graders are invited on a special Spring Retreat to explore their spirituality more in depth before their confirmation.
 
A major component of our confirmation program is service.  Confirmands are encouraged to discover where their gifts can be offered in the church by serving as an acolyte, a chorister, helping with our food pantry, Spring Fair and many other ministries.  We encourage them to serve in our community by participating in Crop Walk, volunteering at Community Meals, PADS, supporting Chicago House, and much more.  We also offer a discernment process where youth can work more closely with clergy and staff to discover where their greatest joy intersects with the world’s greatest need.  Confirmands involved in this process develop and implement their own personal service project that springs from their unique personality, gifts and sense of call. 
 
We are delighted to have so many young people in our parish and we welcome all who would like to journey with us as a confirmand!  We work to create lasting relationships with our young adults as they explore their faith and their commitment to being an adult member of the church.
