Parenting Support

Each year we seek out ways to reach families, parents and individual
family members. We offer parenting classes, moms' gatherings, family
mailing programs, resource table and educational support materials, in
an effort to support the total family. Plus we encourage all parents to
participate in a volunteer role to support church school, choir
program, confirmation and youth events, as well as the many adult
programming opportunities offered at CHS.
In the fall there are
several kick-off programs for parents to learn more about our family
ministry programs. All Confirmation parents are invited to attend the
Confirmation Kick-Off Dinner in September, the Nursery hosts an Open
House and social hour and the Church school also hosts an open house in
the fall. Parents of teen age students are encouraged to attend the
Youth led Forum that presents our youth program and summer work trip.
But
perhaps what parents need most is a network of other adults who have
the same concerns and issues about raising children in this culture,
this community and this generation. Our church offers many ways to
connect for support, conversation and support the spiritual direction
of children of all ages.
We also encourage grandparents to become
active participants in the many intergenerational events offered at
CHS. It is fun to be a kid again, and all children need adult role
models beyond their own parents.
